Volkswagen specialist turns to febi for quality parts range for classic vehicles

Automotive aftermarket specialist febi’s extensive range of original equipment (OE) matching quality components and vast vehicle parc coverage has helped a unique workshop expand its service offering.

Doncaster-based Only Charged Dubs (OCD) is an air suspension and performance parts company that specialises in VW Group vehicles, and owner Matt Payne says febi’s niche and OE-matching parts means customers can rely on them for quality.

Born out of a hobby of working on and maintaining “old school” Volkswagens, OCD is now in its tenth year. Payne and his team developed a new air suspension modification that was popular in the modified car scene at the time and following a few installations of the system on friends’ vehicles, Only Charged Dubs took off.

“When OCD started ten years ago, we found that febi was a reliable supplier of parts for the classic Volkswagens, such as the Mark 1 and Mark 2 Golf models and Corrados. We needed temperature sensors and other niche parts including electrical equipment – and febi has always been reliable with these hard-to-find, often dealer-only parts,” explains Payne.

The febiPLUS range features over 1,500 specially selected vehicle parts and unusual product types that provide an aftermarket repair and replacement option removing the need to source via franchised dealerships.

“Quality and availability are important to us and febi has a good range of parts for a lot of different vehicles, from new to old. We have a lot of customers with classic cars so being able to turn to febi for these parts for classic cars is a big thing for us.”

Payne says he believes that the quality of OCD’s work and the quality of the parts used is the reason so many of their customers return.

“What we want to do is offer our customers a unique service, they're going to get the product and the work at a high-end level. And it's that, that we believe brings people back; there's a noticeable difference in the workmanship that we put into their cars, and the time we spend sourcing the right, high-quality parts. That's what we hope stands out and puts OCD above our competition.

“It’s great for us that febi match OE quality. OCD takes enormous pride in the quality of our work so it’s important to us that the parts look OE, feel OE and last for years, which with febi, they do,” Payne says.

Only Charged Dubs’ operations focuses on air suspension modifications for a range of Volkswagen Group cars under its BAGS suspension range – but has branched out into general suspension work, such as installations of coilovers and loading springs.

“Over the last 12 months we've worked more closely with febi. We've got a demo Audi A3 that runs our BAGS suspension, and while preparing this we added febi suspension parts including control arms, ball joints, steering rods and drop links. The good thing about it is that the parts are OE matching quality, so you know you get reliable parts that are going to last years on your car,” Matt Payne said.

New products and the latest vehicle releases are constantly being researched to ensure that febi continues to meet the aftermarket’s requirements with every new component.
