UK lobbying – what happens now?

Date: Friday 08 July 2022

The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson announced his resignation on Thursday. He is reported to have told the new Cabinet he would not implement any new policies until he is replaced.

Lobbying the UK govt from IAAF and UK AFCAR will continue at pace. The Federation is in active dialogue with CMA over motor vehicle block exemption regulations (MVBER) and DVSA over the protection of the MOT Test Frequency and introduction of SERMI, the ability of independent operators to access security-related repair and maintenance information.

The IAAF is the only trade association that lobbies on behalf of the independent automotive sector specifically on parts.

The issues facing aftermarket sectors around Europe are the same and so it’s important we work together to support the sector and member businesses.
