Textar-sponsored John Newell returned to racing on British soil for the inaugural International Truck Prix at Donington Park, held against the backdrop of the spectacular Convoy in the Park event on August 12th-13th.

Newell returned to action in his Textar-equipped MAN truck at legendary motor racing venue Donington Park, which also held five rounds of the British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC), in which Newell used to compete before moving to the European counterpart series for 2023.

Taking place for the first time was the International Truck Prix, which saw leading truck racing figures converge for a further four races during the weekend, giving trackside fans a total of nine high-octane truck races to enjoy.

Newell qualified for the first of four races in second, a position he retained to the chequered flag after a nine-lap tussle with race winner Jamie Anderson. Race two saw Newell and his Textar-liveried truck finish on the podium again, crossing the finish line in third, having started seventh following a reverse grid.

Sunday’s action started with a second qualifying session to define the starting grid for the third of the four International Truck Prix races, which saw John Newell set the fastest lap time and take a stunning pole position.

Despite starting on pole Newell couldn’t keep double race winner Anderson at bay, with the latter overtaking Newell for the lead on lap six. John Newell rounded off a strong set of results in race four finishing fourth overall.

“It was great to be back at Convoy in the Park at Donington and racing in front of a big UK crowd. The weekend had such a fantastic atmosphere, and we were really pleased to pull off some great racing and strong results in front of our guests and supporters.
