Sogefi reports heightened demand for EV cabin filter range

Date: Friday 21 July 2023

Sogefi Group has reported increased demand for its cabin filters product line, including a range of references suitable for electric vehicle (EV) fitment.

The group, comprising the PURFLUX, FRAM®, COOPERSFIAAM, and TECNOCAR brands offers a complete range of cabin filters, combining different technologies and adapted to suit vehicle demands.

Because of the considerable increase of global traffic and the inevitable worsening of pollution levels, we are exposed to the attack of many pollutants that enter the vehicle interiors through the ventilation or air conditioning ducts. Extended exposure to high pollution can have a serious effect on the health of the occupants in the car.

The function of the cabin filter is essential to the comfort and health of the driver and passengers. The "stop-pollen" effect screens out even the smallest allergenic particles likely to enter the lungs and which may often lead to asthma or allergies. With time, micro-organisms accumulate in the cabin, creating a hazard for the health and safety of passengers.

Furthermore, the cabin air filter with activated carbon stops all particles and odours. The filtering medium consists of three layers including an active carbon layer placed between two layers of nonwoven fibres, and a ‘combi filter’, which filters out both particles and gases, reducing the concentration of noxious and odorous gases likely to provoke head aches and coughing.

To complete this range, benefitting from its industrial innovations and research and development expertise, Sogefi Group has developed the CabinHepa+ filter, which retains up to 99.97 percent of particles up to 0.3 microns and 99.90 percent of particles up to 0.1 microns.

Sogefi has also listed the top ten ranking electric vehicles with all four of its brands covering these applications.

The fastest moving Sogefi references for EVs are parts developed for the Tesla Model Y, with the brand’s Model 3 coming up second. The top five highest-selling products are completed by parts fitting the Fiat 500 electric, Volkswagen ID 4 and Skoda Enyaq.

Cabin filters for the Ford Kuga plug-in hybrid sold sixth highest, with the Peugeot e208 seventh. Volkswagen ID 3, Renault Twingo e-tech and the Vauxhall/Opel Corsa-e rounded out the top ten.

Sogefi Group’s range of cabin filters now offer 95.6percent coverage of the European vehicle parc.
