SMP Europe launches registrations for annual charity golf day

Date: Thursday 23 February 2023

Engine management and ignition specialists SMP Europe has opened registrations for its annual Golf Day on Wednesday 12th July, which will raise money for breast cancer charities.

The SMP Europe Golf Day will take place at the renowned Hollinwell golf club in Nottinghamshire, one of four qualifying venues for the 150th Open to be played at St Andrews. Teams can register online now.

Martin Turner, marketing director at SMP Europe, said:

"We’re delighted to offer the chance to experience one of the UK’s finest golf courses at our charity golf day. SMP Europe is working closely with experts in the sport to provide a high-end event, delivered professionally with the usual prizes and competitions, against the backdrop of raising funds for such important causes.”

Founded in 1901, Hollinwell has played host to a succession of high calibre tournaments throughout its history, including the Brabazon Trophy, English Amateur and Jacques Léglise Trophy.

Participants at SMP Europe’s golf day can expect prizes for the top three teams, plus awards for nearest the pin and longest drive. In addition, there will be competitions and mini games on all par three holes, with tour style signage and treatment and live scoring.

“The initial response to the golf day has been incredible and we're really looking forward to playing on the fabled turf of the Hollinwell course. Our charity event gives a unique opportunity to network across different areas of the aftermarket industry with a competitive edge," Turner added.

Play will take place in four-ball format, with the two best stableford scores on each hole counting towards the team total. Participants will be able to make use of the range of practice facilities available at Hollinwell.

Spanning a 400-acre site, Hollinwell offers golfers a challenging game that requires precision off the tee with heather, gorse, bracken and pine lining the course. It’s nestled in a natural valley within Kirkby Forest that utilises the naturally undulating terrain to the full, with some fairways sweeping through wooded hillsides.

Places are still available with extra slots recently added due to heightened demand. Costs for a four-ball team is £499 + VAT. Teams can register via the online form here.
