RIP Craig Breen

Date: Friday 14 April 2023

The 33-year-old – who last season raced for the NGK-sponsored M-Sport Ford World Rally Team – died in the accident yesterday (Thursday, April 13) while driving for the Hyundai Motorsport team. His co-driver James Fulton was unharmed in the incident.

Breen had re-joined Hyundai on a part-time basis for the new WRC season and had finished second to M-Sport’s Ott Tänak at Rally Sweden in February in his first WRC start of the season, in what was his sixth runner-up position in a WRC rally.

Mark Hallam, Marketing Manager for NGK-brand owner Niterra UK Ltd, said:

“We would like to send our sincere condolences to Craig’s family. He was an extremely talented driver who had a great future in the sport.”

The WRC said on Twitter:

"The WRC family is shocked and saddened to learn of Craig Breen's passing. Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of Craig at this incredibly sad time."
