Ring Automotive joins praise of rally marshals with prize draw addition

Date: Monday 10 October 2022

Automotive aftermarket supplier Ring Automotive joined the chorus of thanks for the ‘Orange Army’ of volunteer marshals at the recent Woodpecker Rally with a donation to the event’s prize draw for event officials.

The Phil Price Memorial Woodpecker Rally took place in early September on forest roads near to Ludlow, Shropshire, with a bumper field of over 160 rally cars taking part, ranging from historic Ford Escort Mk II vehicles to modern-day World Rally Championship machinery.

Henry Bisson, marketing director at Ring, said:

“Marshals are a cornerstone of British motorsport events and it’s great to give something back to the volunteers without whom we wouldn’t have motorsport events, whether on the stages or on the circuits. We will look to support marshals plus wider race and rally weekends where we can going forward.”

As with most Motorsport UK affiliated events, the rally is supported by a team of volunteer marshals who ensure crew and spectator safety, while on the competitive timed stages and in the service area.

Ring offered a MAGflex Slim 500 inspection lamp to the post-event prize draw, where all marshals were in with a chance of taking home some special automotive equipment or rally memorabilia.

The MAGflex Slim 500 offers 500 lumens of output, featuring multi-angled light to shine where needed most. The slim inspection lamp is tested to IP54 and IK07 ratings and operates for up to six hours from a single charge.

Graham Hopewell, clerk of the course at the Phil Price Memorial Woodpecker Rally, said:

“We’re very grateful to Ring for supplying one of their high-end inspection lamps to our marshals’ prize draw.
“It’s great to hold the draw post-event as a way of thanks to our volunteer officials who offer their own time to ensure safety of the crews and spectators across the rally, whether on the stages or in the rally service area.”

The prize draw for marshals also included two tickets to a day’s rally experience at title sponsor Phil Price Rally School where winners could hone their driving skills behind the wheel of a rally car.
