NGK-sponsored Speedway stars ready for 2023

Date: Friday 02 December 2022

English Speedway stars Robert Lambert and Dan Bewley are looking forward to next season’s FIM World Championship after enjoying a fantastic 2022 campaign.

The NGK-sponsored riders finished fifth and sixth respectively in this year’s World championship as well as also claiming some other personal milestones.

Lambert (25), a former British and European champion, gained his first two SGP podium positions and also helped Belle Vue Aces win the British Premiership title after being drafted in for the play-offs.

Meanwhile, current British champion and Golden Helmet holder Bewley (24) became the first Briton for fifteen years to win the home SGP and followed it up by winning the Wroclaw Speedway GP on his Polish home track.

NGK hosted its sponsored stars on its stand at Motorcycle Live at Birmingham’s NEC where they signed posters for fans and also displayed two of their machines; Lambert‘s 2020 European championship winning bike and the machine Bewley raced to victory at the SGP in Cardiff.

Both riders, who race for teams in Poland and Sweden, are looking ahead to next season’s World championship.

Lambert said:

"I had the chance of getting a medal this year but just missed out. However, I was much more consistent during the season and had few poor meetings so I’m optimistic and confident about next season. But it is always a challenge and anything can happen in Speedway.
“It was super exciting to be racing back in Britain with Belle Vue and I would like to ride back here one day, however I’m sure my fans also enjoy watching me perform against the World’s best riders in the World Championship.”

NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd has been a long-time sponsor of Lambert.

He said:

“I have a great relationship with NGK. They have always been very supportive and are such a well-known brand. I was really proud to have my bike on display on their stand at Motorcycle Live.”

Bewley added:

“Winning in Cardiff was really special but I was also equally pleased to win again in Poland. Next season my focus will be on the individual races and meetings and I will see where that takes me. I will be racing again in Poland and Sweden and as for Britain, you never know what will happen in the future.
“My relationship with NGK is really good and it is great to be associated with such a company with its Speedway heritage.”
