Motul revs up its presence at the 2022 Classic at Silverstone

Date: Friday 09 September 2022

Motul is marking the second year of its multi-year partnership with The Classic at Silverstone, with an expanded presence, together with a plethora of activities and announcements at this prime summer historic motoring event.

The famous lubricant brand has three sites at the Northamptonshire festival of motoring. Its main base is in a similar position to last year, at the Village end of the Copse Runway, but with a substantially enlarged enclosure.

This in itself will feature two distinct areas - a public one that showcases a number of different aspects of Motul’s offer: Lubricant advice and sales will be available throughout, as well as Motul’s increasingly popular retro merchandise range. For those wanting to pit their skills against the experts, Caterham’s Motul and Paddle Up-liveried factory race simulator will no doubt be a draw to tackle a lap or two of Virtual Silverstone.

The area also hosts morning and afternoon Q&A sessions with a number of invited guests including Motul technical staff, drivers of Motul-lubricated historic cars who are competing at the classic and the stars of upcoming Classic Restoration TV programme, Paddock Speedshop.

The other area promotes Motul’s offer to historic car clubs and automotive businesses as well as showcasing Motul’s association with Paddock Speedshop and features the Cosworth-engined Mark 1 Escort that proved to be a huge draw at the Restoration show at the NEC in April.

Adjacent to these is one of Motul’s mobile oil laboratories. This year it is a Dakar rally support truck, at which visitors can get a free health check for their car engine or gearbox - if they bring an oil sample - through Motul’s Oil analysis machines.

The Motul stand also features the latest in Motul’s growing range of Garage Equipment: the Sustainable BioClean parts washing machine, Motul’s automated additive dispenser and its upcoming Motul Evo Automatic Transmission cleaning and flushing system.

Also very much in evidence will be Club Motul - the affinity programme that offers Vehicle Clubs and their members special access to Motul offers, gear and events. The 2022 Classic marks the first anniversary of Club Motul’s launch, and it now boasts more than 150 car clubs who are affiliated to the initiative.

Motul has two further “satellite” sites at the Classic, one in the National Paddock, which will feature one of Project Shop’s ongoing restorations, while the other, in the International Paddock will showcase Caterham’s recently launched 420 Cup and a rather special edition car from fellow Motul-OE partner, Radical. The British racing sports car Marque celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and, as one of their activities to mark this, Radical is launching a special Motul-liveried SR3XX sports racer at The Classic.
