Lucas Oil Driving Forward in 2023

Lucas Oil is investing in the profile of the brand, to raise awareness about additive use and to help pull business through to garages.

The Lucas Oil Academy will promote the brand to young mechanics in the classroom, while on the track, the Toyota MR2 of Lucas Oil driver/ambassador Tony Lynch will deliver the message that the brand and success go hand in hand.

Last season, the team added more silverware to an already impressive career record. This season, the Lucas Oil-sponsored Landsail Tyres Team Geriatric crew aims to defend the 2022 Retro Rallycross Championship and retain its 2022 Retro class title.

Both titles are awarded, verified and managed by Motorsport UK. Victories recognise consistently good performances throughout three qualifying heats and a final race-off in each round. Winners need to have exceptional driving skills and be able to reproduce them under demanding circumstances that exist when racing under competition rules.

“The car runs on products specifically developed for use in family cars and other on-the-road vehicles. Rallycross provides a rigorous test for them and is a terrific proving ground for the quality of their overall performance,” says driver Tony Lynch.

Lucas Oil’s 20w50 oil is the team’s motor oil of choice. The crew will also reinforce the oil with Lucas Oil Heavy Duty Engine Oil Stabilizer, required because of the extreme racing conditions that the engine will be subjected to throughout the motor racing season. The additive ensures the oil provides extra engine protection, reduces the potential for wear, while providing added consistency of performance around the circuit.

A major benefit is a reduction in long-term maintenance, which means significant savings on replacement parts across the season.

Lubrication for the gearbox is provided by Lucas Oil’s 75x90 synthetic oil. In addition to using products from the Lucas Oil range of oils and additives, the team will also be using a range of other products from the car care and workshop ranges to increase its trackside profile. These products include Brake Fluid, Brake Cleaner to help with wheel maintenance, and Slick Mist Ceramic Speed Wax.

Tony Lynch and his MR2 will guest on the Lucas Oil stand at the Race Retro show (24-26 February 2023) at Stoneleigh Park Coventry. Visitors to stand 2-126 can demonstrate their gaming and tactical driving skills by competing against his time around a virtual rallycross circuit.
