IAAF Activity Report - week ending 10 February 2023

Date: Friday 10 February 2023

It’s been a busy week in what has been a very busy start to the year for IAAF.

On the lobbying front, we’ve been working both behind the scenes and in public on building a robust case against any plans to extend the first MOT test.

The revised Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Order has moved a step closer to implementation with the beginning of a technical consultation.

Event planning underway
The IAAF’s events calendar is filling up. Much of the focus so far has been on the first ever IAAF hosted Automechanika Birmingham Garage Awards, which will take place on 7 June 2023 at the Hilton Metropole NEC. More details including sponsorship will be released soon.

Member meetings & networking
From our presence at EV Ready to numerous member meetings, IAAF is keen to engage with members more than ever before this year. The Federation wants to build a greater connection with members so that it can continue to offer support throughout the year.

And this week…
This week has seen a very proactive UK AFCAR meeting with fellow trade organisations UKLA, SMMT, NTDA and GEA – along with national chains and commercial organisations – as we work together on protecting the MOT.

The IAAF Chief Executive also attended the CAT Awards 2023 at the Lowry Hotel Manchester and earlier in the week met with members Comline Auto Parts and Prestige Wheels.
