Exol’s Shawn Smith competes in pool tournament

Exol Lubricants’ Shawn Smith is taking part in the Leicester Pool Tour Amateur Series pool tournament, with a total prize fund of £38,400 available.

Smith, based at Exol’s Wednesbury site in the small pack facility, is being backed by the lubricants company to take part in the Leicester Pool Tour event, which kicked off on March 19th. Smith is carrying Exol branding on his clothing for each round.

Steve Dunn, sales and marketing director of Exol Lubricants, said: “We’re delighted to support Shawn at the Leicester Pool Tour. He has competed in various pool tournaments including at national level, and given the reach of the Leicester Pool Tour and the prestigious venue it’s great for Exol to get involved.”

The tournament is taking place at the Club147 venue in Leicester, a premier venue for cue sports. Club147 has a strong history of taking players from a young age to World and European championships, including Mark Selby, the 2016/17 world number one.

Shawn Smith said: “I’m thrilled to have Exol’s backing and wear their brand at the tournament. I’ve got high hopes and I’ve got realistic aims of finishing in the top 16.”

As many as 128 players are set to compete for the championship across four rounds, which offers a total prize fund of £38,400, and with coverage of the Pool Tour streamed live on YouTube, the tournament can reach new audiences.

The grand final will take place on November 19th at the Leicester venue, where the top 64 players from rounds one to four will compete for the top prizes.
