Exol Lubricants to support charity vintage car tours

Date: Thursday 27 April 2023

Exol Lubricants is to support Bognor Regis Motor Club’s latest charity classic car tours with the donation of its Optima range of engine oils.

The motor club’s Cotswold Charity Classic, also known as the Triple C, takes place from 21st-24th April, with a route between the start at Puckrup Hall Hotel in Tewkesbury, and the finish in Tetbury, taking in rolling hills and countryside roads of Gloucestershire and Worcestershire, including a stop at the iconic Broadway Tower.

The Triple C is raising funds for Ovarian Cancer Action, and Mesothelioma UK, a charity supporting victims of asbestos-related illness. Over £620,000 has been raised for good causes by Bognor Regis Motor Club since the club launched its range of weekend and one day tours in 1998.

Ali Green, clerk of the course for the Triple C, said:

“It was great to meet Exol at the recent Historic Rally Car Register (HRCR) Open Day and introduce the company to our classic car tour programme.
“As a club we run various charity events involving classic cars touring picturesque parts of the country all run to Motorsport UK regulations for non competitive tours. If you’ve got a classic car, then you’ll need to perform frequent oil changes, so we’re delighted that Exol has offered us some products to support the event and our fundraising activity.
“We have had a brilliant response to this year’s Triple C event with 40 crews registered to start the tour and raise vital funds for our chosen charities. In order to help offset carbon emissions from the event, we’ve also arranged a donation to local wildlife trusts.”

The Triple C is one of two events organised by the Bognor Regis Motor Club team alongside the Regis TAP, now in its 13th year, set to take place on Sunday 3rd September. The event has raised almost £50,000 for Kent, Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance over the last 12 years.

Exol Lubricants’ support, via its distributor LubeTech, of the two classic tours is the latest in its association with Classic (and Vintage) car rallying, on both the stages and on public roads, with the lubricants specialist also supporting the HRCR Stage Masters and MINI Sport Cup for the 2023 seasons.

The partnership sees Exol Lubricants deliver its Optiguard 20W-50 (M166) to each of the competing crews for their use across the season plus a bonus prize for the championship winner in each category.

Tony Guest, head of Exol Lubricants’ distributor LubeTech, said:

“As a long term distributor of Exol it’s great to work on such projects, plus having an easy to use web shop means Exol’s Optiguard and other lubricants for the classic vehicle market are readily available.
“It’ll be great to see the Tour make its way through the rolling countryside of the Cotswolds and we’re delighted to be supporting an event raising money for such an important cause.”

Optiguard 20W-50 keeps engine components clean and deposit free, protecting against wear, rust and corrosion. This technology has been proven in classic car applications such as Mini, MG, Austin Healey, Jaguar, Ford, and Aston Martin to name just a few.
