Annual IAAF Golf Day hailed as huge success

Date: Friday 19 August 2022

The Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) held its annual Golf Day on Friday 12th August, with the event being hailed as a huge success by participants, guests, and sponsors.

Taking place in hot and sunny conditions at the Arden Championship Course at the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel and Country Club, the IAAF Golf Day crowned SMP Europe’s team as winners of the inaugural Aftermarket Cup.

SMP Europe came home first, ahead of FAI to take the win, with the better score over the second half of the round being crucial.

Mark Field, chief executive of IAAF, said:

“We had a fantastic day at the IAAF Aftermarket Golf Event and thank you to all the players and sponsors that took part.
"Work has already begun on next year’s event as we look to make it even bigger and better for those attending.”

Taking part in the IAAF Golf Day were teams representing FAI, Hella, Road and Rally, Eurocams, MAHLE, SMP Europe, Bosch, Exol Lubricants, Tetrosyl, Ad Bell, Autoparts Bilston, Diesel Technic, Moove Lubricants, MJA Automotive, Boswell Aftermarket, and Autotech Recruit.

Golf Day balls and tees were sponsored by aftermarket IT supplier Elcome, with catalytic converter manufacturer BM Catalysts sponsoring refreshments at the club’s Halfway House.

The Arden course has played host to a succession of international tournaments, including the British Masters and the English Open. 15 teams took to the fabled turf of the Arden championship course over 18 holes – with the final hole offering a chance to win the keys to a brand new BMW Z4 courtesy of SMP Europe, if anyone managed to score a hole-in-one.

IAAF’s next event is its annual conference and annual awards dinner, which will welcome inspirational war veteran and campaigner Robin Horsfall as its keynote conference speaker, whose iconic speeches are underlined with the theme of overcoming adversity. The evening dinner will also feature award-winning and globally renowned comedian Omid Djalili, taking place at DoubleTree by Hilton Milton Keynes.
