The ‘Exol Pride’ barge gets a refresh

Exol Lubricants has unveiled its refreshed ‘Exol Pride’ barge, as part of the brand’s commitment to the transport of Exol products by inland waterways for the most environmentally friendly fleet.

The ‘Exol Pride’ transports raw materials from Hull to its bulk blending plant in Rotherham. Exol has been a long-term user of the waterways, leading the oil and lubricants market by using an environmentally friendly option while transporting large loads. The company was recently commended for its reduction in carbon footprint by receiving the coveted ‘Environmental Award’ at the CAT magazine Awards 2024.

Recently, the canal route used by the Exol barge underwent maintenance, prompting Exol to utilise this downtime for a crucial drydocking program for the ‘Exol Pride’.

Docked at MMS Shipbuilding, Alexander Dock, Hull for three weeks, the ‘Exol Pride’ underwent a comprehensive refurbishment. The schedule of work included a high-pressure water wash and a repaint using marine-grade paints, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of durability and environmental compliance.

Exol’s vessel returned into service last month when the canal system reopened to commercial traffic.

Where road travel is essential, Exol maintains one of the most economical fleets on UK roads, comprising a mix of dual-purpose vehicles and large tanker trucks to transport both bulk and packaged Exol products to customers.
