IAAF MoT e-Petition LINK
The IAAF's application for a petition to abandon proposals to change the frequency of the MoT test was deleted from the government's petition website, so a new petition has now been posted in order that more signatures can be added to the initial 2,912 supporters. The Federation is urging IAAF Members and everyone in the trade, as well as motorists, to add their voice to the IAAF's demand that the ill-considered proposals to relax the frequency of MoT testing be dropped. You can go to the e-Petition by following this link and clicking the link shown below * please note, that the government site will then send you an email which includes a link to confirm your signature. If you don't complete this second phase then your support will not be registered. The IAAF submitted its petition request asking for a Parliamentary debate on dropping the government's proposals to relax the frequency of the MoT test. The text of the IAAF's petition reads: Please add your voice to the 2,912 people who supported the ORIGINAL petition to tell the government to drop proposals to reduce the frequency of MoT tests. Currently vehicles are tested at the third anniversary of registration, and are then tested annually (so called 3-1-1). The DfT has proposed a change to first test at four years and then retest every other year (4-2-2) to "reduce the burden on the motorist". What is this burden? The maximum fee for a test is £54.85 and many test stations charge a great deal less. The test is a vital part of keeping the UK's cars safe, road-worthy and environmentally compliant. Any reduction in testing would lead to increased road casualties (deaths and serious injuries), increased pollution, and have employment consequences. All of which has been supported by reliable research. The system was reviewed in 2008 and seen to be appropriate and any relaxation in testing seen as unrealistic. Let's drop this ill-considered proposal! www.iaaf.co.uk Please support IAAF and sign the petition by clicking the link below. Posted 10/11/2011 |
