The Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation

Second FIGIEFA European-wide questionnaire on the impact of COVID-19

Date: Friday 11 September 2020

The COVID-19 has proven to be disruptive for many sectors, including the independent automotive aftermarket in general and spare parts distribution in particular. The European Commission is generally aware of the situation, and has explicitly asked FIGIEFA to find out from its membership, which includes the UK, what the impact of this crisis would be for member companies. FIGIEFA launched its first survey in late Spring this year, and over 400 companies participated. FIGIEFA is very grateful for the high participation rate, as this allowed them to draw a fairly precise picture of the short-term impact of COVID-19. These results have proven very helpful and allowed them to make specific requests to the European Commission.

FIGIEFA is now looking to repeat this exercise in order to improve their understanding of the mid-term impact of COVID-19 on our sector. As with the previous version, this short survey is divided into four sections:

• Company profile
• Impact on business
• Impact on jobs
• Measures taken by public authorities

You will find the link to the survey here.

The IAAF would be grateful if as many members as possible could submit responses. We are aware that members are still bery busy dealing with the ramifications of the COVID-19 crisis and the possibility of a second wave, but your feedback would enable FIGIEFA to remain as a credible representative able to provide a detailed picture of the aftermarket situation.

All responses will be dealt with in confidence and in an aggregated manner; in any case all contributions are completely anonymous (i.e. it will not be possible to link answers to respondents).

It would be particularly helpful if those companies who participated in the first survey would also participate in this second survey. Whilst contributions from new respondents are very welcome, having respondents from the previous survey would allow better understanding of the evolution of the situation over the last months. The survey is in English so should present no problems for IAAF members.

The deadline for submitting answers is Thursday, 15th October 2020.
