Philips CBH52 - a light for all reasons

Date: Tuesday 20 October 2020

The Philips brand has long been associated with lighting innovation and, a decade or so ago, after extensive research into what workshop professionals needed by way of lighting tools, the first Philips workshop lights were launched.

The current range of Philips lights for the workshop includes penlights, headlamps, handhelds, multi-unit systems and stand lights, but one of the most focused products in the range has long been the under-bonnet light.

The latest in the line of LED under-bonnet light bars is the Philips CBH52 - the most versatile light of its type yet to carry the Philips name. The CBH 52 is the evolution of the popular CBH 51 and, outwardly, is similar looking but the CBH52 is packed full of new or upgraded features.

Light where needed for all types of vehicles
The CBH52 has a sturdy aluminum frame and a bar of LED lights and the ability to twist and extend at both ends. This means that it can cater for vehicle bonnets between 1.10 and 2.08 meters, making it suitable for cars, vans and trucks. The light module also slides so that it can positioned directly over where the light is needed.

Powerful and Controllable Light
The Philips CBH 52 is equipped with 32 high quality Lumileds Luxeon LED lights, which provide a bright white light of up to 5800K. The CBH 52 has three different operating levels, 500 lumens in Eco Mode, moving up to 1200 lumens at its most powerful setting.

It also offers a very wide 120-degree beam angle and, with its 360degree rotation, the CBH52 has exceptional under-bonnet illumination capability.

Tough and resistant
Always aware of the conditions and potential hazards of the workshop environment, much work has gone into enhancing the CBH 52’s durability. It is resistant to oil, grease and dust, is splash-proof to IP54 standards and, with its tough aluminium frame, boasts IK07 impact resistance.

Hybrid Running with long lasting performance
The CBH 52 has the ability to run as a mains powered light, or to run cordless as a battery powered light, which is then charged from the mains electricity. This hybrid charging gives it supreme flexibility and with a working time of up to 5 hours on a single charge it can be moved around wherever needed, so that over the course of a working day it should be able to be used as much as required.

“The CBH 52 is a really excellent piece of kit. It performs really well and benefits from incorporating the results of all the feedback we have had from our previous under-bonnet lamps,” explains Richard Armstrong from Lumileds, who are the global licensees of Philips Automotive Lighting products. “It’s tough and incredibly flexible, making it suitable for any vehicle workshops and, indeed, many other applications.”
