Omid signs up to AFTERmarket party of the year

Date: Friday 17 June 2022

Award winning comedian and actor Omid Djalili has been signed up to entertain guests at the IAAF Annual Awards Dinner, held on 8 December 2022 at DoubleTree Hilton, Milton Keynes.

Omid has appeared in notable films including Pirates of the Caribbean, The Mummy, Gladiator and Sex and the City 2, and Notting Hill. On the small screen, Omid has appeared on shows from Sport Relief Bake-Off, to Newsnight. He fronted his own HBO special, and was on many episodes of the sitcom Whoopi, alongside Whoopi Goldberg.

With a theme of celebrating the aftermarket, following a two-year absence due to the coronavirus pandemic, IAAF’s AFTERmarket Party will feature an evening of entertainment, larger than that of previous years. More than 50 percent of dinner bookings and sponsorship have already been taken and the event is expected to sell out well ahead of schedule. Omid is one of the UK’s most talented comedians and is a fantastic awards host; his sharp wit and humorous anecdotes have made him a favourite among corporate audiences and he will not fail to impress.

Mark Field, IAAF Chief Executive, said:

“With more than half the tickets now sold for the dinner, momentum is truly building to the aftermarket event of the year. It’s going to be a big celebration of our brilliant sector and we have even more announcements to make in the coming weeks to make it a night to remember.”

Omid originally gained success in the nineties at the Edinburgh Festival where he performed numerous successful shows including ‘Short, Fat, Kebab Shop Owners Son’ and ‘Omid Djalili is Ethnic’. His 2008 show, ‘Omid Djalili Live’ was an even bigger success, he performed one of his 53 tour dates at the London Hammersmith Apollo and the tour was a sell-out. Omid is known worldwide and is a popular comedian in countries such as Australia, Norway, Switzerland, America and Canada to name a few.

He is currently touring his Good Times Tour in from July 2021 through to July 2022.
