Nic Hamilton ready for BTCC points battle

NGK-sponsored British racing driver Nic Hamilton endured a challenging first round of the 2021 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season but is hopeful of improved performances over the coming races.

Driving Team HARD. Racing’s Cupra Leon, he improved over the three races to take a highly encouraging seventeenth position to finish just outside the points in the final race at Thruxton, the fastest and arguably most difficult circuit on the calendar.

He said:

“Overall, a very challenging weekend, with every condition possible thrown at us, as we continue to develop the new Cupra Leon. Great racecraft from me proved that progress will be made in a straight fight when opportunities present themselves.

“I personally feel that overall race pace needs to be improved slightly to keep me in the 'hunt' for points and continue making progress throughout the race, however, this will come as we get more knowledge, confidence and strength with the new car as the year goes on.

“It is a long year, full of opportunities exciting times and memorable moments. Thank you to absolutely everyone for their continued support in my journey, it is greatly, greatly appreciated. Onwards and upwards to Round 2 at Snetterton on June 12/13."

Hamilton, the brother of seven-time World Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, has a long-standing relationship with ignition and sensor specialist NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd.
