NGK backs Great Britain to retain World Speedway title

Speedway supporter NGK is sponsoring Great Britain’s bid to retain the 2022 FIM Speedway of Nations World Team Cup.

Last year riders sponsored by the ignition and sensor specialist helped Great Britain to its first World Speedway title in 32 years when it won the event in England and this year NGK is once again backing the team as it sets out to defend its title in Vojens, Denmark.

The Great Britain team is led by three-time World Champion Tai Woffinden, who is supported by fellow Grand Prix stars Robert Lambert and Dan Bewley, with Tom Brennan completing the line-up – all four also being individually sponsored by NGK.

All the British riders will feature the NGK logo on both their upper arms and it will also be displayed on the right side of all Team GB bikes, all of which will be fitted with NGK’s racing spark plugs.

John Money, who handles Speedway sponsorship on behalf of NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said:

“We are delighted to announce we are sponsoring Great Britain in the 2022 Speedway of Nations World Team Cup. The event will be featured live on Eurosport 2 so British Speedway fans will be able to follow all the action in what I’m sure will be a fantastic event with most of the World’s top riders in action.

“Last year Robert, Dan and Tai all helped Britain become World Champions and together with Tom they’ll all be fighting hard in Denmark to retain the trophy.”

Fifteen countries are participating in the competition, seven each in the two semi-finals which will be held on Wednesday, July 27 and Thursday, July 28, with the top three from each going through to the final on Saturday, July 30 where they will face hosts Denmark.

Great Britain competes in the second semi-final where their opponents will be Sweden, France, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Italy and Slovakia.
