NGK announces all-star 2022 World Speedway Championship line-up

Date: Wednesday 02 March 2022

Long-term Speedway supporter NGK is sponsoring an all-star group of riders in the 2022 World Speedway Championship.

The ignition and sensor specialist is to continue to support three-time World Champion Tai Woffinden, 2021 third-placed star Emil Sayfutdinov, two-time World bronze medal winner Freddie Lindgren and former European Champion Robert Lambert in this year’s Speedway Grand Prix series which roars into action in Croatia on April 30.

John Money, who handles Speedway sponsorship on behalf of NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said:

“We have assembled an incredibly talented group of riders to compete in this season’s championship. Last year Emil came third, while Freddie and Tai also made the top six. Robert too performed impressively in his debut SGP season, finishing tenth, so we are confident that they will all have memorable campaigns this year.”

All the riders will sport NGK’s famous logo when racing their 500cc bikes which will be fitted with NGK spark plugs.

Last year Woffinden, who is Britain’s only three-time World Champion, and Lambert joined forces to help Britain win the NGK-sponsored 2021 FIM Speedway of Nations, the country’s first World title for 32 years.

NGK is also continuing to sponsor the Parrys International Wolverhampton Wolves Speedway team as it bids to win the British Premier League in 2022 as well as Wolves riders Luke Becker, Leon Flint, Drew Kemp and Joe Thompson.

The team sponsorship deal will see NGK’s logo featured on all the team riders’ race suits, around the track, on Eurosport interview boards, and in each home meeting programme. In addition, all the riders will receive NGK paddock mats and chairs.
