Natural Disaster: Torrential rains near Remagen leave behind a picture of desolation

Date: Friday 30 July 2021

The devastating torrential rains of the last few weeks have also hit many employees of Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST) in the region around Remagen quite hard. Many of FST's employees from other sites are very worried about their colleagues and their families and want to help. As a result, quite a few of them are also picking up the phone with the very best of intentions to offer help.

There is no material damage at the FST plant in Remagen. However, since the power grids are overloaded in the entire area, production has been at a standstill. Therefore, many of the employees who did not lose their own belongings have gone armed with tools to help on site. Some of them are also active in the THW (a Federal agency that provides professional help to people in distress) or the volunteer fire department and thus strengthen the relief teams anyway.

"We are overwhelmed by all the compassion reaching us at the moment," says Tobias Chomsé, Managing Director and SEO in Remagen.

The overall feedback from the affected areas is dire. At least 60 of our employees have been personally affected, and some of them have not "only" lost their homes, but literally everything they owned.

"We also know of employees who are worried about relatives who are still considered missing. Our deepest sympathy goes out to them. We hope with all our hearts that many missing persons have not yet been able to report back only because of the chaotic conditions, but are well," says Chomsé, speaking from everyone's heart.

For anyone who would like to help there is a donation account set up for those affected.
