Motul partners Shelsley Walsh and gears up for BRM celebration

Date: Monday 04 July 2022

Motul is delighted to announce a new partnership agreement with the world’s oldest permanent motorsport venue, Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb, which sees Motul confirmed as the Official Lubricant of the Worcestershire track.

The collaboration will be showcased to full advantage at the Midland Automobile Club’s Classic Nostalgia Meeting, over the weekend of July 16/17, where one of the main features is the celebration marking the 60th Anniversary of BRM’s F1 World Championship win, for which Motul is proud to be a presenting partner.

“Motul is extremely active in motorsport of every type and we are delighted to have become partners with the Midland Automobile Club and its Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb - a venue which embodies the past present and future of Speed events in the UK,” enthuses Motul UK’s Andy Wait. “Motul is looking forward to engaging with the Hill Climb community and we believe we have the solution to all of their lubricants and fluid needs, whether they are driving the current crop of Hill Climb single seaters, or the vintage and classic race cars that also regularly compete on the hills.”

Motul will have a high visibility at Shelsley Walsh, with branding at various points along the 1000-yard course, which is the home of the Midland Automobile Club (MAC). Those coming to the Classic Nostalgia event will also find Motul very much in evidence around the BRM Celebration and other areas of Shelsley Walsh, as MAC Director Campbell Deas elaborates.

“Classic Nostalgia will be one of three flagship events at which BRM celebrates the 60th anniversary of its 1962 Formula One World Championship success – the first time that a British driver had won the World Championship in an all-British car. With team founder Raymond Mays having enjoyed so much success at Shelsley Walsh, it’s only fitting that more than 20 historic BRMs will be there, including the fabulous P15 continuation car with its V16 engine, for which Motul has been lubricant partner since the outset of the project.
“The car will be on display very close to our Courtyard bar, which now looks absolutely fantastic with the bar counter supported by Motul Oil Drums - old and current. Motul products will be available to competitors and spectators at the venue at most meetings. We look forward very much to partners who are, like us, extremely enthusiastic about creating the best possible motorsport experience.”

The Motul-presented BRM 60 Celebration will feature some 20 key cars and figures from the marque’s history. These include Graham Hill’s BRM P48, the front-engined P25 F1 car and the Motul-sponsored P201 F1 car from 1974. Many of these will parade up the hill, during the event - driven in some cases by some of the former BRM drivers who will be in attendance: well-known and much-loved figures such as Richard Attwood, Howden Ganley and Mike Wilds.

Classic Nostalgia will also feature a gathering of group B Rally Cars, a Tribute to saloon legend Gerry Marshall and a host of other attractions including a Concours d’Elegance, Live Music, Wall of Death and Car Club displays. Entrance for a single day costs from as little as £15 for adults with under 16s admitted free. www.classicnostalgia.co.uk for more details.
