MOT testing – updates following changes to COVID-19 restrictions

Following changes to the COVID-19 restrictions announced by government for England from 19 July, DVSA has issued guidance on what this means for MOT testing and how this will affect MOT garages and testing stations.

Advice from DVSA is:

• face coverings: adhere to the rules of the MOT garage they are visiting
• social distancing: use common sense and take care not to allow situations that could result in crowding
• other measures: continue to take sensible precautions and maintain existing best practice on vehicle ventilation and hand washing/sanitising

DVSA encourages all MOT garages to continue to follow the latest guidance to protect colleagues and customers.

Some of the rules temporarily relaxed by DVSA for MOT garages will change and they will provide further details via a Special Notice.
