Mintex Racing on the starting grid for 2022

Date: Monday 28 February 2022

Braking friction specialists TMD Friction has unveiled its Mintex motorsport calendar for 2022.

Covering both circuit racing and forest rallying, Mintex will be the sole braking supplier to national championships such as the one-make Mini Challenge, EnduroKA, ST Trophy, Fun Cup UK, Junior Saloon Car and Focus Cup championships, as well as partial support to the Britcar championship.

TMD Friction has a strong heritage in motorsport through its Mintex brand and 2022 is set to be no different with a diverse set of UK championships benefitting from the company’s renowned high-end braking performance.

Mintex’s long-term involvement in the Mini Challenge continues following a successful 2021 season, where Mintex-backed driver Lewis Brown secured third place overall, dominating a race weekend at Brands Hatch in the process.

Mintex will also continue in the Focus Cup, where in 2021 the braking marque sponsored Teesside-based driver Gary Mitchell, who ultimately finished runner-up in the championship.

Also on the roster for 2022 is the Fun Cup, a single-seater endurance championship that was launched in the UK in 2002, providing cost effective and exciting for all competitors. With a space frame chassis, the cars are light, powered by an 1800cc, 130 horsepower petrol engine, and are identical in specification, with no-performance modifications.

The races are all endurance, between three and eight hours in the UK, complete with pit stops and all the drama of such an event.

The Junior Saloon Car Championship recently featured on the BBC’s Top Gear, and targeting young drivers it offers a cost-effective stepping stone into circuit racing. The whole grid will be using Mintex brake pads.

Richard Barton, category manager for Mintex Racing and Classic at TMD Friction, said:

“It’s great that Mintex is the stopping power of so many national championships across so many levels, from intermediate racing to the grassroots where cost needn’t be such a barrier to competing. With such a diverse range of series we’re really looking forward to competing across various disciplines of UK motorsport again in 2022.”

Mintex brake pads and discs are engineered to provide friction stability, comfort and consistently high performance over a wide temperature range and stopping distances.

Mintex Brakebook allows users to create catalogues tailored to their individual requirements, whether for the entire product range, a selection of products or even for special models.
