HELLA highlights its air quality sensor range

Date: Thursday 03 September 2020

Many modern vehicles now have air quality sensors installed for the benefit of the driver. Mounted directly in the intake duct, the function of the sensor is to detect pollutants, such as carbon monoxide, and send that information to the air conditioning system’s control unit. This data is then used to control various aspects of the system, including interior temperature, the position of the recirculation flap or the fan speed.

Internal or external short circuits may lead to malfunctions and if this happens, harmful odours can enter the vehicle, some of which may impact the driver’s alertness. Particularly during the heightened level of awareness created by COVID-19, electronics specialist, HELLA, is urging technicians to check these sensors and if they need replacing, to do so with a premium quality like for like product.

As a renowned original equipment (OE) manufacturer and systems supplier, HELLA’s range focuses on increased comfort and safety, as well as OE quality. It has references for the most popular applications, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen and Volvo.
