GaraShield backs ‘Females in Focus’ event

Date: Friday 16 July 2021

GaraShield has pledged its support to females in the automotive industry by sponsoring the upcoming 'Females in Focus' ladies networking lunch, hosted by the Scottish Motor Trade Association (SMTA) at Norton House Hotel in Edinburgh on 29th September.

GaraShield is the new digital workflow platform exclusively distributed from TMD Friction, offering garages the ability to manage the complete customer and vehicle workshop journey, leading to increased efficiency and an enhanced customer experience.

It was born in a garage, with the clear objective of making it easy for the mechanics to follow and document their work without any additional time requirement.

The new platform has an interactive user interface including work steps to be carried out, which can be confirmed with just a click, and vehicle defects and/or faulty parts can be described easily and documented with photos and videos.

Hosted by Alison Walker, who has more than 20 years of experience working with the BBC in television and radio, the lunchtime ‘Females in Focus’ event will provide a platform within the Scottish motor industry to bring together women from all sectors of the industry to network, exchange experiences and create business contacts and celebrate the work of the women in the motor trade.

Alison will also be facilitating discussions with SMTA’s panel of guest speakers, which includes the winner of the inaugural Nan Lindsay Award: Mary-Anne McNaughton of Central Car Auctions.

Scott Irwin, Head of Technical Training at TMD Friction said:

“It’s great that GaraShield can support such a fantastic event celebrating women in the automotive aftermarket, while outlining future opportunities. The industry is undergoing a digital transformation and there’s no doubt that women will play a key part in this, which is why this is the ideal platform to show our support and raise awareness of GaraShield and its capabilities.”

Karen Thompson, SMTA Events & Media Manager, added:

“SMTA is proud to host a brand-new event ‘FF21 – Females in Focus’ sponsored by ‘Central Car Auctions’. It aims to highlight the opportunities for females in the automotive sector in Scotland, bringing together a panel of women from different areas of the industry discussing their achievements and their journey. We are delighted to have additional support from ‘GaraShield’ at this event.”

The SMTA was formed in 1903 to look after the interests of all members, whether it’s the largest motor group in the country or whether it’s a small MOT station or even just a one-man operation in a remote part of the country. The association is Scotland’s largest motor trade body and in 2021 has more than 1,400 members.
