DVSA COVID-19: update

Date: Thursday 24 September 2020

The UK Government has announced that new measures will be introduced on 24 September to limit the spread of coronavirus.

What this means for DVSA services
Currently the new restrictions do not affect heavy vehicle testing service which restarted on 4 July with new Covid safety measures in place. This means DVSA can continue to provide the resource needed to test heavy goods vehicles (HGV) and public service vehicles (PSVs) safely.

DVSA is also continuing to manage testing demand using exemptions. Vehicles and trailers whose exemption is running out are the highest priority for test bookings.

Standard operating procedures
To help ensure testing can be conducted safely, DVSA updated and will continue to review their standard operating procedure (SOP) to make sure the test process is safe for everyone involved.

The latest government guidance to stop the spread of coronavirus is available on GOV.UK.

DVSA will be keeping the situation under review and will issue further advice if anything changes.
