Commonwealth Games’ Baton Relay visits Glen Callum Associates

Date: Friday 29 July 2022

The historical Red House Glass Cone, based in Stourbridge and home to Glen Callum Associates (GCA), played host to a visit of the Queen’s Baton Relay, to mark the run-up to the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The Dudley borough played host to the baton relay after travelling through neighbouring counties of Worcestershire on Friday 22nd July, and Shropshire on Saturday 23rd July, visiting several locations in Dudley on Sunday 24th July, with a huge range of family-fun activities marking the occasion.

Kerrie Richards, director of Glen Callum Associates, said:

“It’s not often that the Commonwealth Games land practically on our doorstep and to be in such close proximity to a national celebration to mark the Games with the Queen’s Baton Relay, in the Jubilee year, is a huge privilege and we’re delighted to be involved.”

The Red House Glass Cone is of significant cultural and historical importance in the Dudley borough, playing an important role in the industrial revolution. The building’s construction was completed in 1794 and continued to produce glassware until 1936.

“The Red House Glass Cone is a notable landmark in the local area and the GCA team are privileged to have our offices situated in not only a lovely canal side location, but in a building with great historical importance to the Midlands region,” Richards added.
