Banner – 85 Years In The Making

Date: Wednesday 20 July 2022

In a year that will undoubtedly be remembered for jubilee celebrations, Banner - Europe’s leading manufacturer of batteries and battery accessories – had its own part to play, both in its home country, Austria, and here in the UK.

Indeed 2022 has been a year of double celebrations, Banner having enjoyed 85 years heritage on home soil, with Banner GB reaching its own 25-year milestone. So, in the wake of the challenging Covid period, Banner recently brought together over 500 employees, including 200 from the company’s thirteen sales organisations, to attend its own jubilee event at Banner’s headquarters in Leonding, Austria.

With Austrian TV-presenter, Nina Kraft, overseeing the jubilee events, celebrations began with guided tours of the company premises in Leonding and Banner’s newly- opened location in nearby Thalheim. The programme also explored future plans for growth and a focus on sustainability, decarbonisation and climate neutrality. And with continuity, quality and stability being the values that epitomise Banner, the management took special pleasure in honouring many long-serving members of the workforce. As Banner’s Technical CEO, Thomas Bawart said:

“We are particularly proud of our colleagues who have loyally and competently supported the company in the hotly contested battery market for ten, twenty and even forty years.”

With the formalities and speeches completed, a special Banner birthday cake was cut ahead of the jubilee celebrations commencing in style.

Commenting from a UK perspective, Country Manager, Lee Quinney said:

“It was a real delight to see the entire UK team be invited to enjoy not just Banner’s 85th anniversary, but our very own 25th milestone. The whole event was extremely well thought through, and the factory tour was positively received by all members of Banner GB who haven’t previously had the opportunity to see the factory close up.
“It was also a great pleasure for the Banner GB team to witness two of their own receive long-standing service awards in Jason Parrish (25 years) and Baz Newton (10 years). So on that note, I would like to thank Jason and Baz for all the hard work, commitment and dedication they have shown. Indeed we are all now looking forward to continuing to build on the success that Banner has grown to enjoy over the last 25 years here in the UK,” he added.
