NGK BoxClever August winners

Date: 14-Aug-2017

Garage proprietors Toby and Claire Spencer are now the proud owners of a new £7000 courtesy car – thanks to ignition specialist NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd.

The Surrey-based couple were the winners of a prize draw held by NGK to win a fantastic Suzuki Celerio five-door hatchback city car.

The prize draw was open to members of the company’s BoxClever garage loyalty scheme in which, following the purchase of NGK spark plugs, glow plugs, NTK sensors and ignition coils, scheme members were encouraged to collect the single boxes that the products come supplied in and then return them in exchange for prize points.

Every time a member banked boxes from the beginning of April until the end of June this year they received an entry into the Suzuki Celerio prize draw with an additional bonus entry being awarded for every NTK Lambda banked during the promotional period.

And at the end of the three-month campaign it was Toby and Claire who were named the lucky winners, being presented with their prize by their local NGK Sales Representative Tom Kidd.

Toby, who runs Elmwood Vehicles Ltd, of Ewell near Epsom, Surrey, said: “I have been a BoxClever member for many years, but this is the first time I have won a prize. It was a real surprise when we found out we had won the car which looks great.”

He has been in business for 23 years and has been running his all-makes vehicle repair business and MoT centre at the current Kingston Road premises for the past 10 years. In addition, he also specialises in working on TVR cars.

The Spencers employ four staff, including long-serving technicians Peter Croft and Alan Wilkinson who have been working for the business for 16 and 14 years respectively. It is a real family business as Toby’s daughter Megan currently works there as did Claire’s daughter Cara who is currently on maternity leave.

Toby is a long-standing supporter of NGK. He said: “I have been using NGK spark plugs ever since I first started out in business from a van. They are quality components that are so reliable. You just don’t get the misfires that you can get from some other products.”

As well as NGK spark plugs, Toby also fits NGK glow plugs, ignition coils and NTK Lambda and other engine management sensors, supplied by Leatherhead-based BMG Autoparts Ltd – part of the PDP Group – which stocks the complete NGK range and whose Managing Director Rick Fraser attended the courtesy car handover ceremony.

Mark Hallam, Marketing Manager, NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said: “We are delighted that Elmwood Vehicles has won the Suzuki Celerio which is the ideal vehicle to be used as a courtesy car for their business.

“The BoxClever promotions are proving extremely popular and during our latest one, which started in July and runs until the end of September, members have the opportunity of winning a monster 1000-piece Teng Tools kit cabinet worth £10,000.”

There’s even more good news for NGK customers as in September the company is introducing new ranges of 87 NTK Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensors and 69 Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensors.

For maximum efficiency in engine operation and to ensure effective exhaust gas treatment, the engine control unit (ECU) needs to precisely regulate the air-fuel ratio.

NTK has been proving its excellence and know-how for decades as a leader in the production of original equipment (OE) Lambda sensors for vehicle manufacturers (VMs).

MAF and MAP sensors are essential elements in this process. Both provide the ECU with a signal needed to calculate the amount of air aspirated by the engine.
