NGK announces winner of BoxClever promotion

Date: 17-Nov-2017

Garage owner Peter Mackenzie will always remember his 26th anniversary in business as it coincided with him winning a fantastic new tool kit cabinet worth £10,000.

The 60-year-old Scotsman was the lucky winner of a monster 1000-piece Teng Tools kit cabinet, courtesy of NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd.

The prize was on offer to members of NGK’s BoxClever garage loyalty scheme when following the purchase of NGK spark plugs, glow plugs, NTK sensors and ignition coils, workshops are encouraged to collect the single boxes that the products come supplied in and return them in exchange for prize points.

Every time a member banked boxes during the three-month promotion they received an entry into the prize draw, with a free bonus entry for every NTK Lambda box banked, and when the promotion ended Peter was pronounced the lucky winner.

He said: “It was a fantastic surprise. When I heard I had won I thought it was a wind-up to begin with. You read about people winning prizes, but they always seem to be in other parts of the country.

“It is an amazing piece of kit. It’s packed with every tool you could possibly want including torque tools. It will be extremely useful. My own tools have become rather scattered about, so it is great to have everything in one place. To have won such a prize has made my work anniversary even more special.”

Peter, who runs Peter Mackenzie Auto Services at Unit 4, Harbour Road, Inverness, was presented with the Teng Tools cabinet by his local NGK Sales Representative John Catterson.

He said: “I’ve been a BoxClever member for many years. My late Dad, also called Peter, used to collect the boxes for me which got me into the habit of saving them. I’ve always fitted NGK spark plugs, glow plugs and Lambda and other sensors and I’ve always found that if it says they fit the car I’m working on, they always do.”

Peter’s business is an all-makes service and repair garage and he also carries out MoT preparation work. He says he picks up a lot of repeat business from a wide cross-section of the local community and carries out work on vehicles owned by different generations of the same families, sourcing components primarily from local distributors Highland Motor Factors and Dingbro.

He has been involved in the motor industry since leaving school, working at local VW and Chrysler Talbot dealerships before setting up his own business where he is assisted by technician Martin Watson (34).

Outside of work, Peter, who is married to Helen and has two sons, Mark and Neil, enjoys supporting Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC and, when the opportunity arises, holidaying.

Mark Hallam, Marketing Manager, NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said: “We are delighted that Peter has won this fantastic prize. The Teng Tools kit really has everything a technician needs. It comes with a superb range of tools and is housed in an attractive cabinet that can be easily moved around the workshop.

“Our BoxClever garage loyalty scheme is open to workshops from all over the UK and it is fantastic that one of our workshop customers from the far north of Scotland is the recipient of such a great prize.”

NGK has been offering a series of great BoxClever prizes throughout this year. In August Surrey-based garage owners Toby and Claire Spencer were the winners of a new £7000 Suzuki Celerio five-door hatchback city car. The latest promotion, which runs until the end of December 2017, sees it offering three lucky BoxClever members the chance to win 100,000 points each.

NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd is a leading supplier of original equipment (OE) spark plugs, glow plugs and NTK Lambda and other engine management sensors, plus ignition coils, to the independent automotive aftermarket.
