New Vice-President for IAAF
The IAAF has announced that Graham Knight, Southern area Director for FPS Distribution, and a member of the Federation's Council for five years, is its new Vice-President.
Graham is well-known in the trade having worked for FPS for over thirty years. He is married with two, now adult, children and he?s a keen motor cyclist and a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists for both driving and riding. He laughs as he assures us that motor cycling is definitely the sign of a mid-life crisis!
"I'm very proud and excited at being able to play a more active part of the IAAF at a time when the evolution of our industry feels it's gone into hyper speed!" Said Graham, but he warned his colleagues in the trade not to focus solely on their own business, because there is a wider perspective to consider.
"We should be under no illusions our industry is under threat from many quarters not least apathy from within," Graham said. "We can't allow the Government's headline grabbing potential policy of 4-2-2 MoTs to go unchallenged. It's wrong on so many levels!"
"Now we have the 'Right to Repair' we need to constantly challenge and expose those who do not adhere to BER and would rather the independent aftermarket to slip gently into the abyss. Motorists deserve the 'Right to Choose' where they take their vehicles and we need tell them the facts enabling them to make informed decisions," he continued.
"Although all sectors of our industry have come a long way in recent years, there is no room for complacency; we need to continue to 'up our game' and even in these tough economic times continue to invest in training & technology," Graham concluded.
IAAF President Nick Best expressed his pleasure at Graham's acceptance of this important role. "Graham has always contributed in a capable and considered way to the Council's discussions and activities and I know he is committed to the IAAF?s future," he said.
