2017 Annual Conference and Awards Dinner

Date: 20/07/2017

The countdown has begun to this year's IAAF Annual Conference and Awards Dinner, the automotive aftermarket's largest industry event.  This year, the event takes place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Milton Keynes.  Last year's event was a sell-out, so guests are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.

The Venue
The venue overlooks the magnificent Stadium MK, home of MK Dons FC, and is also home to the multipurpose Arena MK, an indoor event space that can accommodate 5,000 guests.

Milton Keynes is just 30 minutes by fast train from Central London.  What's more, Bletchley and Milton Keynes Central railway stations are just 5 minutes away by taxi.  If you're travelling by car, the venue is just off the M1, 12-minutes from Junction 14 and 35 minutes from Luton Airport.

The Host - Johnny Herbert
The IAAF 2017 Conference and Dinner will be hosted by Johnny Herbert.  Widely recognised as one of the greatest all-round racing drivers in the history of motorsport, Herbert is among an exclusive club of British drivers who have enjoyed a successful career in Formula 1.

Johnny began his racing career in 1974, racing Karts when he was just 10 years old.  His talent was immediately obvious and, by 1978, he was the British Junior Karting Champion.  After progressing through the ranks, he moved into Formula 3 racing, winning the British Formula 3 title and the world of Formula 1 beckoned.

Throughout his incredible career in F1, Johnny was at the forefront of the sport, testing himself against some of the true greats, like Michael Schumacher, Damon Hill and Nigel Mansell.  In his decade in F1, one of his most successful results was winning the 1995 British Grand Prix, endearing himself to thousands of home fans.

Having always been involved in all types of motor racing, he enjoyed particular success at LeMans 24 Hours, winning the title in 1991.  Johnny has always been a massive part of Formula 1 and continues to promote the sport in various roles.

The Conference
Throughout the day on 7th December, DoubleTree by Hilton will play host to the IAAF Annual Conference, which has continued to grow in stature and is the home for some very energetic debate on issues affecting the automotive industry.

There will be an update on IAAF activity, including the progress of IAAF's prominent Your Car, Your Choice campaign.

With proposals to extend the frequency of MOTs currently at the consultation stage, the conference will also highlight the dangers involved and the risks that threaten driver safety.  Furthermore, after welcoming many of the recent amendments approved by the European Parliament's Internal Market and Consumer Protection committee (IMCO) as part of the forthcoming type approval legislation, a deeper insight on how this will affect the aftermarket will also be covered.

IAAF has strongly argued that a level playing field should be provided to ensure consumer freedom of choice when repairing and maintaining vehicles.

The Dinner
Following the Conference, the DoubleTree by Hilton will also host the Annual Awards Dinner, the largest industry event for the automotive aftermarket.  Johnny Herbert will join guests to provide the evening entertainment.

Sponsorship
The IAAF is delighted to be able to offer a number of sponsorship opportunities for t his amazing event, which will deliver many benefits for your organisation.  Packages start from as little as £500.

The 2016 event proved very popular, with all sponsorship packages selling out well in advance.
